Why this page exists
Your kitchen is made by us, not bought in.
A modular kitchen can be sold by a company that never touches it. The order is taken in a showroom and placed with a workshop somewhere else, and by the time something is wrong it is not obvious who owns the problem. We work the other way round: ALEA has been making modular kitchens since 2009 — 17 years — in our own 95,000 sq ft unit at Raipur Rani, Panchkula district, and the furniture business we grew out of has been making furniture since 1998.
So this page is not a brochure about machinery. It is the sequence a sheet of board actually goes through between your signed-off drawing and your fitted kitchen, written the way we would explain it standing next to you — and every stage of it is something you are welcome to come and watch.
A note on the photographs: documentary photography of the shop floor does not exist yet. Every picture on this page was taken in our own experience centre and is captioned as exactly that.
The sequence
Six stages, from signed drawing to dispatch.
No mystique and no jargon. This is what happens to your kitchen, and what each stage changes for you once you are living with it.

Design and measurement sign-off
Before anything is cut, your kitchen is measured at your home and drawn up, and the quotation is itemised line by line rather than given as one lump sum. You sign the drawing off. That signed drawing is what the factory works from.

Panel cutting
Full sheets of board are cut down to the exact panels on your kitchen’s cutting list. Cutting by machine to a list is what keeps every panel square and every repeated part identical — the difference you notice later as doors and drawer fronts that line up with each other.

Edge banding
Every cut edge is sealed with edge banding under heat and pressure. It is the least glamorous stage and one of the most important in an Indian kitchen: an unsealed edge is where steam and spills get into the board, and where cheap furniture starts to swell.

Drilling and hardware preparation
Hinge cups, shelf pins and runner positions are drilled to set positions rather than marked out by eye, and the Hettich and Blum hardware for your kitchen is drawn from stock and prepared alongside the panels it belongs to.

Assembly and finishing
Panels become carcasses, shutters are finished, and hinges and runners are fitted and adjusted here — in the factory, on a bench, not out of a toolbox in your flat. It is why fitting day at your home is fitting rather than carpentry.

Checking, packing and dispatch
Each unit is checked against your order — sizes, finish and the action of the hardware — then packed and dispatched for installation. Anything that is not right is corrected here, where correcting it is easy, instead of in your kitchen after the tiles are on.

What being made in-house changes

Making it ourselves is not a slogan — it changes three practical things: who controls the quality, who controls the dates, and whether you are allowed to come and look.

The manufacturing queue is ours, so the dates on your quotation are ours to keep. Installation at your home takes about 15 days, and the dates for your kitchen are confirmed with you in writing.

The end of the process
The last stage is a document.
A process that ends with a handshake is a process you cannot hold anybody to. Ours ends with a 10-year warranty, in writing, handed over with your kitchen — so that years from now you are holding a document rather than remembering a conversation.
What the warranty covers is set out in the written document you receive. Ask to read it on your free visit, before you commit to anything — we would rather you read it early than discover it late.

Do you manufacture the kitchens yourselves, or subcontract them?
We manufacture. Every ALEA kitchen is made at our own 95,000 sq ft unit at Raipur Rani, Panchkula district rather than placed with an outside workshop, and has been since 2009. You do not have to take that on trust: a factory visit is free and carries no obligation, so you can watch kitchens being made before you commit to anything.
What happens before anything is cut?
Your kitchen is measured at your home, drawn up, and quoted line by line rather than as one lump sum, and you sign the drawing off. The factory works from that signed drawing, so the panels are cut to your room rather than to a standard assumption about it. The measurement visit is free and carries no obligation.
What do I get in writing at the end of the process?
An itemised quotation, and a 10-year warranty in writing, handed over as a document rather than promised verbally. What that warranty covers is set out in the written document you receive — ask to read it on your free visit, before you commit to anything.
